At Jin Wu Healing, we’re here to make your healing journey feel supported, clear, and peaceful. Below you will find answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to reach out and ask!
A: Acupuncture needles stimulate specific energy points along channels within the body. The retained needles allow the Qi, or energy, to circulate in the body to help rebalance energy where needed. Most people are able to relax while on the table, and can even shift into a deep meditative state or fall asleep. Acupuncture is a powerful practice to shift energy, calm the nervous system, and support deep emotional release.
A: An intake form is initially filled out. Treatments begin by discussing what symptoms you would like to work on, and checking in with how you are doing. I will then take a look at your tongue and check your pulses - diagnostic practices in TCM. Acupuncture needles can be placed on the legs, arms, abdomen, face or head depending on each persons treatment. Needles are left in for around 20 minutes, allowing for energy to circulate. After, the needles are removed.
A: Fire cupping involves glass cups suctioned to the back to facilitate detoxification and healing. Three different methods of fire cupping are used to support balance within the body; "flash" cupping, retained cupping, and slide cupping. Marks, or Sha, may show after on the skin, indicating detoxification of stagnant energy and blood flow..
A: You may feel a small prick, like a mosquito bite, when a needle is inserted, or even nothing at all. Acupuncture needles are sterile, disposable, and are around 0.25mm wide. Energy, or De Qi, sensations may be felt when the needles are in, a sign the body is responding to the point used. These may feel warm, tingly, or heavy in nature.
A: You may either wear something that is comfortable with easy access to lower legs, abdomen, and arms, or remove restrictive clothing and lay under the blankets on our treatment tables that allow for access to areas mentioned in the FAQ.
A: You can easily book online via our website by following the link under Book a Treatment. Choose your preferred session and time and we will see you then!

A: Yes. Acupuncture and Fire Cupping work with the nervous system, and therefore there may be a feeling of calmness or relaxation afterward. If possible, give yourself time after a treatment to slow down and integrate before jumping back into a busy day. Staying hydrated will assist in supporting the body after treatment.
A: Yes, eating a small meal or snack before treatment allows for the body to have energy to process TCM treatments. If you attend a treatment on an empty stomach, you may experience some lightheadedness afterwards.
